Summer Brain Gain is 8 weeks of theme-based activities to mitigate summer learning loss. Each Common Core-aligned learning module provides project-based activities, emphasizing math, literacy, and 21st century skills.

75% of the achievement gap between lower and higher-income kids can be explained by unequal access to summer learning programs. Low-income kids lose 2 or more months reading achievement in summer.

Summer matters because there is no other time of year in America when inequalities are greater. Summer Brain Gain is Boys & Girls Club of America project-based Learning Practices (Engage, Express, Evaluate, Exhibit) supported by Common Core-aligned learning modules.

Each module has Academic Vocabulary to introduce terms. Academic Vocabulary is the language of school and is used in textbooks, activities, etc. Supported by Disney, each module takes a project-based learning approach: youth engage in a process of learning through discovery, creative expression, group work and a final project or production. As a result, kids develop higher-order thinking skills through the Summer Brain Gain modules while staying on track for the coming school year.SUMMER BRAIN GAIN GRAPHIC
