Florence Air Academy

Join the Boys & Girls Club of Western Lane County and Aero Legends Biplane Rides for our 8th Annual Florence Air Academy. The Academy is led by COL (Retired) Terry Tomeny of Aero Legends Biplane Rides. 


Florence Air Academy is a 2 week course (M, W, F) that covers principals of aviation and introduces youth to careers in the aviation industry. Youth will participate in a combination of classroom study, hands on activities, and flight operation. Some activities include touring a Coast Guard helicopter, flying remote controlled planes & pilot drones, and having the opportunity to fly in a plane one-on-one with an instructor pilot! 

PROGRAM DETAILS

  • Youth ages 12-18 may apply & must be able to attend every class
  • No additional fee for Summer Program Boys & Girls Club Members
  • For non-Boys & Girls Club Members, an annual Club membership fee of $25 and a program fee of $75 is required
