After School At The Teen Center

The Teen Center provides a safe space for youth in 5th-12th grade where they can socialize with their friends, relax after a long day at school, participate in developmentally appropriate activities, and receive assistance with schoolwork if needed.  A typical day at the Teen Center includes a snack, time for members to choose what they want to do, and Club programming.  Programming areas include: 

• Art activities
• Board games
• Club volunteer opportunities
• Culinary & nutrition activities
• Field trips
• Guest speakers
• Help with homework/school projects
• Leadership & mentoring activities
• Recreation activities
• Service-learning opportunities (community volunteering)
• SEL activities (social emotional learning)
• STEM activities (science, technology, engineering, and math)
• Video games

Here at the Teen Center a majority of our afternoons flow through member led activities as we teach our pre-teens and teens the importance of being able to self-mitigate occurrences of boredom and self-initiate activities with their peers.  We believe that these skills are integral in the growth and development of our youth.

Club members can arrive at the Teen Center after school by walking or can be dropped off by the school bus or a personal ride.  All members must be picked up or leave the building to walk no later than 5:30.

We provide Club members with an afternoon snack.  All Club members are welcome to bring their own food as long as it does not need refrigerating, cooking, or reheating.  We will do our best to accommodate Club members who have food sensitivities or allergies but cannot guarantee we will be able to eliminate all allergens or prevent cross contamination.  Club members with food sensitivities or allergies are encouraged to bring their own food to prevent any accidental exposures.
