Tasha Metzler

Tasha Metzler, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Western Lane County, is deeply rooted in the Florence community where she was born and raised. A proud former Club kid herself, her leadership represents a true full-circle moment—giving back to the very place that shaped her childhood.

After returning home in 2019 to be close to family and embrace her favorite role as “Auntie,” Tasha quickly immersed herself in community service. In 2021, alongside two fellow moms, she rechartered Cub Scout Pack 777 for the first time in over 20 years. She also serves on the Rhododendron Court Executive Team and is an active member of the Delta Gamma Philanthropy Group.

In addition to her nonprofit and volunteer leadership, Tasha is the owner of Events by Metz, where she brings her love of planning and decorating to life through creative, memorable experiences. Her passion for building community extends into her personal life as well—she founded a vibrant book club that provides a safe space for readers to connect and share stories.

Outside of her work, Tasha enjoys reading, hiking, and strength training, and can often be found exploring the magic of Disney—whether on her annual girls’ trip or sharing the joy with her two dogs, Gus Gus and Jaq.

Tasha officially joined the Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors in January 2025 before stepping into the role of CEO. She is excited to lead the organization into its next chapter, carrying forward the Club’s mission to empower young people, strengthen families, and inspire a brighter future for Western Lane County.

Athletic Director

Charnae Decker

Charnae Decker is the new Athletic Director for the Boys & Girls Club of Western Lane County, proudly serving her hometown of Florence, Oregon. A lifelong athlete and passionate advocate for youth sports, she brings nearly two decades of coaching experience and a deep commitment to the community. A standout three-sport varsity athlete and team captain at Siuslaw High School, she was honored as Outstanding Female Athlete, Outstanding Female Girl, and Florence Future First Citizen. She continued her athletic career at Pacific University, competing in both volleyball and softball.

Before joining the Boys & Girls Club, Charnae spent 13 years as a public school teacher, beginning at Jewell School, where she was named Casco League Volleyball Coach of the Year in 2009. After returning to Florence in 2011 with her husband, she taught and coached in the Mapleton School District and later at Siuslaw Middle School, where she transitioned from coaching high school varsity teams to volunteering with local youth sports programs. Over the years, she has coached everything from varsity volleyball, basketball, and softball to T-ball, Rookies, and various youth volleyball and softball leagues—always with the same passion, dedication, and joy.

Charnae and her husband of 15 years, Adam, are raising their six children—ages 4 through 12—in the Florence community they both love. For the past five years, she has homeschooled her children, bringing the same energy, structure, and heart into her home as she brings to her work with young athletes.

As Athletic Director, she is honored to lead programs that empower kids through sports, build confidence, and create lasting community connections. She is excited to expand opportunities for young athletes and to inspire the next generation through teamwork, discipline, and a lifelong love of both play and competition.

Lea Hutchison

Lea Hutchison is a new Youth Development Specialist for the Boys and Girls of Western Lane County teen center. She brings with her a passion for supporting and fostering lifelong skills and success in children for more than 30 years. This experience bridges the spectrum of childhood development from birth to adulthood and beyond, in many different settings including childcare programs both home and center based, preschool teacher, Supervisor and Developer of an after-school program, Storytime Storyteller, taught parenting classes, an Early Childhood Development and Education instructor, and has training and personal experience with the special education and special health needs populations. She has also coached soccer, been involved in a theatre troop, and 4-H.

Before coming to Boys and Girls Club she spent her days being a parent as well as homeschooling her 3 children ranging from 11-24. Her and her children moved to Florence 4 years after spending more than 20 years living in Northeastern Oregon. While living in NE Oregon they lived in a very small town and had a small hobby farm growing some of their own food and raising different animals. They raised ducks, chickens, goats, rabbits, and horses. This self-reliance fostered her love of not only cooking but teaching children how to make healthy food in fun and exciting ways!

She is super excited about this new adventure with Boys and Girls Club and overseeing the Culinary Program! She has a lot of creative and educational ideas to take this program to next level! From learning basics in cooking/baking and safety to finding creative ways to meld foods together for the perfect meal on a budget. This is truly her jam…. No, pun intended.

Lastly, she feels truly honored to be a part of this team and most of empowering the youth of today!
